The theme of this conference, which centers around IGMO’s bi-annual flagship publication the Geostrategic Maritime Review, is the Caspian Sea – geopolitical and geoeconomic stakes for the wider region.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of ending the Second World War and the hosting of the COP21 in Paris. These commemorations serve to remind us of the relative peace and prosperity we have enjoyed in the European/Eurasian continent over the past seven decades. However, this may not continue if we fail to act sustainably, broaden our energy mix and reduce our dependency on fossil fuels.
